Petrol ended the week at 153.5p a litre on average across UK forecourts, down 2.4p on the week before. Diesel ended at 171.9p, down 4.7p. The figures come from 7,453 forecourts. The cheapest town for petrol was Bishop Auckland at 145.2p. The most expensive was Shotts at 168.5p. Supermarkets were 3.4p a litre cheaper than other forecourts for petrol. Motorway services charged 19.8p above the national average.
